If you’ve managed to maintain your summer goals with a set workout program, keep it going as the fall and winter months approach. Don’t let the urge to hibernate sabotage your workout regime as the days shorten and colder temperatures settle in.
Here are three easy ways to keep your health and fitness on track as we close out the summer months.
Flexibility: As your family and friends transition into their fall schedules, you can do the same. Try to realize that as long as the workout happens on a regular schedule, progress is happening!
Keep Realistic Goals: Over the summer you may be able to reach manageable goals of increased exercise due to more daylight. How does that feel? Creating attainable goals makes the big picture seem much less daunting, and will always boost your self-esteem. Once it’s dark in the morning again, maybe it’s time for a new home treadmill!
Stick to a Plan: Just like you were at the beginning of the summer, be vigilant about making your time count. As the summer fades and fall returns, figure out your weekly schedule and how to fit in exercise. As the seasons change, form your new plan accordingly. Is there a dance class that you’ve been considering? Perhaps it’s time to join the gym to get through the winter doldrums.
